About My Fellowship

My name is Angela Stabler and I teach High School Math at Enloe High School. Courses that I currently teach are AP Statistics, AP Research (an AP Capstone course), and Common Core Math 1. The 2016-2017 school year will be my 5th year at Enloe and in teaching. I wanted to become a Kenan Fellow to reinvigorate my passion for teaching, as well as provide a better connection between academics and real-world applications.

I am working with Dr. Richard Smith through SAMSI. We are looking to use statistics on running data such as the Boston Marathon and local races to Raleigh.  The goal of my internship is to find a representative model that can be used to predict race finish times given different split times based on individual runners. We will be using data from the Boston Marathon for 3 different years, then apply that to other races more local to Raleigh.
