As I mentioned in a previous post, I will not begin my internship with Hyster-Yale until July 18th (I’m so eager to begin)! However, I’ve already been provided a mapped out schedule of what I will be working on and who I will be working with and I’m SO excited. I cannot wait to get started! My schedule has me doing work from working on the production line to working on my own project with a manufacturing engineer! My husband is a civil engineer and I’ve seen some of his projects dealing with water systems. However, I’ve never really thought about manufacturing engineering so I’m excited to see what it entails.
I met with the cohort of Greene County fellows today and we discussed how all our internships were going (of course I mainly listened). Everyone spoke about all the crazy jobs they were doing as well as all the different aspects of their company. We all have a common goal to create lesson plans for our county that have common math standards/strands to promote vertical alignment throughout the county. After speaking with everyone today I have a good idea of what I’d like to work on. I spent most of the afternoon brainstorming about what HY might have me doing and how I can bring back what I learn there to my classroom! Again… I cannot wait to get started and step out of my comfort zone of the classroom! 🙂
