Editorial Policies
Focus and Scope
The primary audience for the journal is educators, administrators, and researchers both formal and informal of all disciplines.
Topics will include scholarly articles on proven teaching strategies, community engagement, advocacy, leadership, professional development, research/industry experiences, literary reviews and educational research as they relate to interdisciplinary education.
Peer Review Process
The Editor screens submissions to JoITL to determine if the manuscripts are relevant to the scope of the journal, and adhere to the Author Guidelines. If the manuscript passes the initial review, it will be assigned to at least two peer-reviewers to be considered for publication. The journal operates a double-blind peer review whereby the names of the reviewers and the authors are kept confidential. Reviews typically take one month to complete. After careful consideration, the reviewers will recommend whether to accept the manuscript, return it to the author for revisions and/or publish. The Editor considers the feedback and recommendations provided by the reviewers when determining whether or not the manuscript will be published.
Manuscript review criteria are:
- Relevance and impact on teacher leadership, advocacy, and interdisciplinary education,
- Timeliness of subject matter,
- Strength and validity of research and/or argument,
- Clarity of the writing.
Publication Frequency
This journal publishes continuously online to ensure the availability of timely research. Manuscripts are accepted year-round and reviewed as soon as possible upon submission.
Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Archiving
This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
