For Authors

Submission Guidelines

Submissions to the Journal of Interdisciplinary Teacher Leadership (JoITL) are open to educators, administrators, graduate students, and researchers both formal and informal of all disciplines. JoITL uses an online manuscript submission and peer-review system. Manuscripts that have been previously published or are in consideration for publication by another journal will not be accepted. All submissions must be in English.

How to submit your work

Submissions are completed online. Registration and login are required to submit items online, and to check the status of current submissions.

Author Guidelines

Articles, research papers, essays, and literary reviews submitted to JoITL should be original work. We do not publish articles that have been previously published in either print or digital format. We do not publish articles that are: opinions; university writing assignments; unsupported lesson plans; or that promote a commercial product.

We do publish articles that relate to teacher leadership, advocacy, professional development, research/industry experiences, and interdisciplinary research and/or practices in K-12 education. While it is not required, preference will be given to articles that focus on STEM education.

Manuscripts should be written in compliance with the style and reference guidelines presented in the 7th edition APA Publication Manual.

Upon acceptance, you may be asked to clarify, rewrite, and provide additional information as the editorial team reviews the manuscript. You may also be asked to update materials; complete your biography; and provide additional supporting documents as requested.

Even if your manuscript was accepted for a particular issue, the editor may choose to save your article for a future issue depending on space.

Preparing a manuscript for submission

File formats: Microsoft Word (DOC or DOCX) electronic files only. Please do not submit compressed (zipped) files.

Font and page format: 12-point font with one-inch page margins, double spaced.

Length: Articles should not exceed 7,000 words. Please include an abstract of 150–200 words.

Blind Review: Manuscripts are double-blind reviewed and should be written in a way that does not reveal authorship.

Supplemental materials: Photographs, images, figures, tables, etc. that are not created by the author should include proper permissions.
