Lessons 4: Using Aquatic Benthic Macroinvertebrates as an Indication of Stream Health: Part II – Determining Stream Health by the Diversity and Types of Benthic Organisms
Students identify macroinvertebrates from sampling sites in one or more streams. The Stream Index Value is calculated for each site to determine the health of the stream at each location.

- hand lenses
- glass vials/jars for preserved specimens
- source of specimens
- kick net (easy and inexpensive to make)
