Lesson 10: Involvement in the Political Process: Letter Writing to Politicians on Environmental Issues
Students write letters to state or federal politicians expressing their personal opinions on water quality or other relevant environmental issues.

Classroom Time Required:
One class period to research their topic; two homework assignments to draft their letters, teacher time to provide feedback on draft letters, one class period to type final draft
Materials Need:
- Access to internet to research their topic
- computer
- relevant current event articles
- “permission to mail” form signed by a parent
