Reflecting at my first blog post, well…it wasn’t much.

“I just wanted to say that I am so excited for this new adventure! I cannot wait to work with my fellow Kenan Fellows and mentors.

It has already been a great experience, and it has yet to begin!”

In my second post, I made a list of all of the things that I was looking forward to. I was excited to make new friends, live out of a hotel, participate in professional development, and have an experience I’ll never forgot. The Kenan Fellows Program met my expectations and more!

I have dramatically changed the way I teach. Starting from the very beginning of school, I usually have my desks in rows; however, this year, on the first day of school, I started with collaborative groups! I have also used more technology than ever before, inviting several scientists to come talk with my students, and incorporated a citizen science project!

I couldn’t believe the effect the program has had on me professionally and personally. I now have a large network of teachers, legislators, and others involved in education.

I plan to continue working with the Kenan Fellows Program beyond my summer experience. I look forward to it. I’m excited!

Exciting? Yes it was!
