Awesome! That’s how I will describe my week in Cullowhee. There is also no way I can pick just one highlight of the week because I enjoyed almost everything.
I had no idea what to expect when I got there. I just know that I thought, “It’s raining…great”. However, I didn’t realize what an awesome time it really was going to be. Â One thing that really sticks out in my mind more than anything is the eieiOh! presentation by Mrs. Dacia Jones. I really feel like that is the most excited I have ever felt about teaching. She shared with us all of the scientists/celebrities that her students had a chance to Skype with over the past year as well as every bit of grant advice she had to give. Once I left that room, I decided that it was time to revamp my classroom, and I have already signed up on Donors Choose since that day, and plan to write many grants in the next year. Also, I MUST have Bill Nye to Skype with my classroom next year. It HAS to happen!!!
Another highlight of my week was the food. Wow! I was expecting cafeteria food, and this was far from it. I sure do love to eat, and with a dessert after every meal…fantastic!
Who could forget the White Water Rafting trip! I had rafted before at the man-made one in Charlotte, but I have never in a real river, so I was a little scared. 🙂 …However, I found out that besides the freezing water, and my corroding tennis shoes, it wasn’t bad at all! I even think I could have made it on the “extreme” rafts. I was more impressed with myself for jumping off the bridge into that cold freezing water! I was not about to be the only one of my new friends that didn’t do it. After it happened, I immediately regretted my decision, but now I’m glad I decided to partake on that adventure.
I had such an amazing time, with an amazing group of people. I could probably write a book about the adventures and good times of the week. I am so thankful for the opportunity and would do it all over again!
I love the last picture!!! I used the same one! 🙂 It was such a wonderful week full of learning…but it was also a wonderful week to get to know everyone and make new connections.
