Being in a middle school classroom, I hope to not need as much of the technology that we are using in the lab at the museum such as the materials we are using for DNA extraction, PCR, Gel Electrophoresis, and DNA sequencing. If I were in the high school setting, I would be hopeful to use these things. For the middle school classroom, I hope to just have the materials to collect data for the project. We will just need something to scrap mites off of the students’ faces if they volunteer. I could use a plastic spoon for that.
One thing that we have and I hope to acquire newer models is microscopes. We do have a nice set of compound microscopes, but I hope to get at least one microscope that can hook up to my projector screen so all students could see at once. I also hope to get a microscope that can zoom in real good so students can get a good look at the mites that live on their face!
