I was able to work at a local pickle plant in which my mentor directed me to other professionals within the company that were very knowledgeable in their job field. My mentor was the Human Resources director so he knew the contacts that I needed to be put in contact with in order to gain the most out of my experience. He did an awesome job at providing me with background information and then handing me off to various supervisors that could provide me with more detailed explanations of the day to day operations.
Unfortunately, since my internship ended my mentor has taken another job so he is no longer working with that company. I still plan on using the connections that I made with several of the supervisors and one of them is going to come speak with my students after Christmas break. Even though my internship experience has ended I still hope to keep connections with the company and keep them involved with my unit that I am developing.
