Where I teach:  Beulaville Elementary School

What I teach:  8th Grade Math and Math 1

How long I have been teaching:  11 years

Reason I became a Kenan Fellow:  I became a Kenan Fellow in order to grow professionally. I had started to become complacent within my teacher role and I wanted to be rejuvenated to order to become a better teacher. I wanted to have the opportunity to experience how mathematics is really applied within the real world so that I could bring my experiences back into my classroom. By pushing myself to learn new strategies and gain new experiences, I hope to become a better teacher as well as resource within my community.

Goal of my internship:  I hope that this opportunity will help me to become a better teacher within the classroom in addition to help me to become a more active leader within my school and community. I want to be able to provide more meaningful instruction that will not only teach them the curriculum, but more importantly get them motivated about the opportunities provided by mathematics.
