My students and I experienced many “aha” moments during the time we spent on the One Health project. I feel that my students were able to see that health issues involving people and animals span the globe. When the zika virus hit the news, we were already a month into our project. The students started having wonderful conversations about the virus and how wearable sensors could be used to detect this devastating disease before women became pregnant.
I am grateful that our work in the classroom is allowing these students to see connections between engineering design, science, and the world.
