The Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership at North Carolina State University builds the connections, confidence, and community educators need to thrive. Enjoy professional development that is immersive and empowers you to take charge of your own learning.
Ready to take your teaching to the next level? Our 2026-27 fellowship applications are officially open. The fellowship application will remain open through mid-January 2025. The application is online and includes prompts and two letters of recommendation.
We deliver professional development that is designed to improve pedagogy and build leadership capacity. Seasoned educators facilitate our professional development institutes, which focus on timely topics in education.
We just released our first round of fellowship opportunities in select North Carolina counties. New openings will be added in October and again in November, so check our website and social channels for updates.
Our fellowships offer:
Industry Connections: Spend three weeks this summer immersed in a local industry. You will shadow professionals, explore cutting-edge facilities, and discover new ways to bring work-based learning to life in your classroom. Partner industries vary from farming and technology to manufacturing and scientific research.
A Powerful Network: Join a supportive, statewide network of nearly 700 talented educators and industry mentors who will champion your growth.
Intentional PD:Â Participate in 80-plus hours of leadership training designed to improve your teaching practice. Upon completion, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction recommends 9.2 CEUs subject area and/or general.
Create Valuable Resources: Deliver a product that bridges the professional worlds of education and industry.
$5,000 Stipend: Receive a stipend to support you on this journey.
