Carrie Horton is a National Board Certified Teacher who taught High School English for 18 years before leaving the classroom to support and coach other educators implementing Project Based Learning (PBL) instruction. Mrs. Horton received her undergraduate degree in English Education from Millikin University in 1999 and her graduate degree in Executive Leadership Studies with School Administration Licensure from Gardner Webb University in 2020. She has been studying and practicing PBL since 2008 and was named a PBL Exemplary Teacher in 2009 by the New Tech Network and Teacher of the Year for Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School in 2011. Mrs. Horton was a 2013 Kenan Fellow for Project Based Learning in North Carolina and served on the Kenan Fellow Program Faculty for six years. She is a member of the KFP STEMwork Design team as a PBL content expert. Mrs. Horton joined the Kenan Fellows Program Staff as the Program Manager in June of 2021 and continues to engage educators in launching authentic learning experiences for their students.
