Jennifer Heiss is a Communications Specialist with North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives in Raleigh. In this role, she works directly with North Carolina’s 26 electric membership cooperatives on their community-facing programs and partnerships, including the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership, as well as the Bright Ideas Education Grant Program, N.C. Youth Tour and Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarship Program. Prior to joining North Carolina’s Electric Cooperatives in 2018, Ms. Heiss worked for three years as a Communications Specialist and Social Media Manager with Wake County Government where she coordinated communications and media relations for one of the fastest-growing counties in the nation. Ms. Heiss also worked for nine years as a Communications Officer with N.C. Department of Transportation in Raleigh where she led communications and media relations for transportation projects and initiatives in northeastern North Carolina. Ms. Heiss earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications, Public Relations, from Appalachian State University in 2005. In 2019 she will pursue a Master of Arts in Digital Communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ms. Heiss and her husband, Karl, live in Raleigh.
