The Kenan Fellow/Mentor relationship has been eye opening. I worked with Dr. Dan Fergus at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences, and I have just learned SO much. Dr. Fergus didn’t want to be called a mentor, however, because he felt that he was learning so much himself.

It really means a lot to me having worked with a mentor, along with other Kenan Fellows. The knowledge gained, the networks created, and the friendships obtained has been phenomenal. The Kenan Fellows program has a great thing going.

Most importantly, my students have benefited from this relationship. How cool is it that their teacher worked with a “REAL” scientist!
