Bio

Amneris Solano leads strategic communication for the Kenan Fellows Program for Teacher Leadership. She has been with the university since 2012 and began her career as an award-winning journalist in Eastern North Carolina. For the past 15 years, she has helped nonprofit organizations and educational initiatives grow their influence and build community trust.

Previously, Amneris served as the Communications and Government Affairs Specialist for the NC Sustainable Energy Association. She holds a B.A. in English and an M.S. in Communication from NC State. She serves on the strategic board of EducationNC and as a judge for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Circle of Excellence Awards. Her writing has been published in the News & Observer, EducationNC, and the MaComère: Journal of the Association of Caribbean Women Writers and Scholars. She holds a B.A. in English and an M.S. in Communication from NC State.
