When I think of this internship experience, I cannot help but feel excited as well as a little anxious about the possibilities. I hope that this experience will allow me to make connections within the community, grow professionally, and create a product that will engage my students within the classroom. Being able to collaborate with such knowledgable staff at Bay Valley Foods is such an amazing opportunity within itself. I hope that I will be able utilize their expertise within this industry in order to not only create a great product but also increase community involvement by having them come into my classroom and speak to my students as well.
Within this experience, I hope to grow as a professional as well. By being able to observe and work along with the individuals within this internship, I have gained a greater knowledge of the skills that my students need to be successful within the workforce. The various roles that individuals play within the industry world is very interesting. Also, seeing the application of communication, technological, science, and mathematics skills will enable me to think beyond the curriculum standards to a much more practical approach of teaching. Even though I am a little anxious about presenting my information to other educators at this point in my journey, I know that this will also help further my professional growth.
The development and implementation of the product will be the final outcome of the internship. Being able to take all of the information that I have gained from this experience and actually apply it successfully with my students I think will be the most rewarding. Just to know that I will create a product from my experiences within the internship that will further my students knowledge is very exciting. I hope that the product will improve my instruction, engage my students, and incorporate those real world skills that they are going to need to be successful in the real world!
