N.C. Business Committee for Education (NCBCE)
NCBCE is the business-led education and workforce nonprofit in the Office of the Governor. For over 40 years, it has supported students and educators through work-based learning and professional development. North Carolina attracts significant investment in clean energy projects, fostering job growth and economic development. The state’s strong commitment to education and training programs ensures a well-prepared workforce, with numerous community colleges and universities offering specialized courses in renewable energy and sustainability.
UNC Institute for the Environment
The Center for Public Engagement with Science (CPES) is an informal science education and community engagement hub in the UNC Institute for the Environment (UNC-IE). The CPES collaborates with UNC faculty/staff/students and non-academic partners to translate environmental science research results into action in North Carolina (NC) communities. One of the programs led by the CPES is the NC Energy Literacy Fellows Program. The goal of this program is to provide teachers with up-to-date curriculum-relevant content including STEM-based activities that showcase current energy science, technologies and careers to promote energy literacy among students while cultivating the energy workforce.
The EARTh Center
The EARTh Center, funded by the National Science Foundation’s Division of Advanced Technological Education (NSF ATE), is the “National Center of Excellence” for Environmental and Natural Resource Technologies. The EARTh Center serves to support environmentally related programs at high schools and technical colleges across the US through the creation of classroom resources, fostering of academic communities, and offering unique professional development opportunities.
