Joni Allison
Joni Allison is an Assistant Principal at Hendersonville Middle School and a 2013-14 Kenan Fellow. Before becoming an administrator, Ms. Allison was a Nationally Board Certified teacher working with English Language Learners. After 11 years in the classroom, she supported the growth of teachers as a Secondary Instructional Coach for 3 years. Since beginning her career in education as a North Carolina Teaching Fellow at UNC-Chapel Hill, Ms. Allison has participated in various teacher leadership programs. She participated in the National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Institutes in 2011 and 2013. In 2014-15, Ms. Allison conducted action research for the Governor’s Teacher Network and in 2015-16, she served as a NC Teacher Voice Fellow with Hope Street Group. She holds a B.A. in Romance Languages and an M.A. in Teaching French and English as a Second Language from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Post Master’s Certificate in Public School Leadership from Western Carolina University.
