Healthcare Innovation Requires ‘Patients’ in the Classroom
Ms. Pittman will partner with Krista Horne and other experts at Vidant Duplin Hospital to examine the science, technological, engineering and mathematical-related (STEM) opportunities that this field offers for students who may aspire to a career in health care.
As part of the fellowship, she will collaborate with various hospital personnel to observe cutting-edge research and patient care practices; and develop relevant and engaging STEM lessons designed to help K-12 students understand the science behind the latest healthcare practices and to become better aware of opportunities and needs in the field.
