Dr. Stevens is a microbial ecologist and molecular biologist studying the dynamic relationships between hosts and their microorganisms. Her particular interest lies in the bacteria and fungi associated with invasive species. By using an integrative approach, she uses both traditional microscopy and culturing methods to supplement next generation sequencing and bioinformatic approaches. Recently, she has began participating in science outreach through Citizen Science, popular science writing, and public speaking.
