Heather Willoughby is a North Carolina native and grew up in Alamance County. Her father is a nurseryman specializing in ornamental horticulture and her family farms beef cattle, and row crops. She’s an NC State graduate with a background in horticulture and biology. After working in the horticulture industry for seven years, she joined NC Farm Bureau Federation in August 2015. She works as a program assistant to the Ag in the Classroom program under director, Michele Smoot. Ag in the Classroom provides educational resources, teacher workshops, and ag-based materials to help educators introduce agriculture into the curriculum they are required to teach.
