The Kenan Fellows Program has named Dr. Elaine Franklin as its new director.
Dr. Franklin, executive director of the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching (NCCAT), will join the Kenan Fellows Program beginning September 1, 2013. She has served as the executive director of NCCAT since April 2011.
Dr. Franklin has several years of experience as a teacher, researcher and educational leader. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from UNC Asheville, an M.A.Ed. in Education from Western Carolina University and a Ph.D. in Social Foundations of Education from UNC Chapel Hill.
She is the former Director of the Center for Mathematics and Science Education (CMSE) at Western Carolina University and has dedicated her career to developing and empowering effective teachers.
The Kenan Fellows Program is an initiative of the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science.
