Design Your Own Project

Got an idea for a cutting-edge STEM education project?

This fellowship offers you the chance to design a project based on your student’s needs, professional interests or local economic development trends.

We will help you find a mentor with expertise and shared interests and provide you with the professional growth and instructional tools needed to translate your research experience into classroom work.

Through this Fellowship, you will design compelling lessons focused on 21st century skills such as critical thinking, problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity, teamwork and innovation. Lessons will be aligned with Common Core or Essential Standards.

In completing the online application, please describe your idea for the project, explain how you intend to use the lessons in your classroom and how the project will benefit North Carolina students.

Potential projects should satisfy at least one of the following:

• Link STEM education with workforce requirements of the local economy.
• Link STEM education with current research-based pedagogy.
