He who shall not be named…

I enjoyed reading the Harry Potter series growing up.  For those who have not read the books, the villain is referenced as “he who shall not be named,” aka Voldemort.   Voldemort is so menacing, that wizards and witches cannot speak his name. Due to previous experiences, I considered professional development so menacing that just the sound of the word caused feelings of dread to wash over me.  However, the Kenan Professional Development was nothing like this…

1. Different.  The sessions we attended were new and fresh.  The sessions went WELL BEYOND the current “education buzz word” fads.

2. Malleable. The best part about the professional development was our opinion mattered.  Yes, some sessions were set in stone, but our opinion was asked for, and changes were made.  I appreciate the ‘differentiation’ to meet our diverse needs.

3. What am I going to do now? The Kenan Professional development has raised the professional development bar.   It is going to be a struggle to find additional professional development this dynamic and engaging.  Suggestions welcomed!!!  Let me know what other professional development sessions you have attended that were worth your time.
