Relationships

I am a face to face, get together, catch up cover coffee, type of person.  Giving up time to meet means more to me than gifts, acts of service, or words of affirmation.  Personally, the mentor relationship is a highlight of the fellowship.  My mentor and I are still in contact.  We have worked on writing a grant, a presentation to my class, and are now preparing for a field trip to Biogen Idec.  My mentor is a VERY busy man.  The fact that he places my students and I in his top priority of things to do, means the world to me.

As the year and our reign as Kenan Fellows comes to an end, it is bitter sweet.  This experience has changed the way I teach.  I am envious of the incoming class, but on the other hand I am excited to learn from the new members of our Kenan family.
