I have developed as an educator throughout my fellowship and believe I will continue to become a better educator. The inquiry instruction I implemented into my classroom has required students to use problem-solving, critical thinking, and reasoning skills. Students have stated that they learn better when we use inquiry to explore content. I have grown by collaborating on with other in my school on projects, after-school activities, and STEM field trips.

I learned that I enjoy coding the Arduino Lilypad wearable circuit board and have plans to incorporate it into a costume for a comic con. I started sewing when I was 8 and have become an avid cosplayer. I look forward to incorporating circuits into future costumes.

The Kenan Fellows Program allowed me the opportunity to network with many STEM professionals. I direct the Women in Science and Engineering (WISE) Club at AFHS and we will be hosting our inaugural Women in STEM event in later April. Twenty STEM professionals from Wake County will be in attendance this year, with plans to expand next year. I will be working in a NC State chemistry lab this summer with a professor I met through my fellowship.
