NEW BERN, N.C. (May 14, 2008) — The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation recently presented $10,000 to the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science to fund a Kenan Fellow for one year.
Since 1948, the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation has played an integral role in the philanthropic efforts of the company. Our mission is to release the potential in people to improve our communities and advance sustainability. In 2007, over one-third of the grants from the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation were distributed for education-related programs.
“The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation is proud to support our local communities” said Frank Rackley, N.C. Timberlands manager. “Supporting the Kenan Fellows Program has a positive impact on educators and children in our communities. Embracing giving as part of our business philosophy makes our state a better place to work and live.”
Weyerhaeuser Company, one of the world’s largest forest products companies, was incorporated in 1900 and continues a legacy of giving. In addition to awarding grants from its foundation, Weyerhaeuser contributes leadership, time and talent to community-minded agencies through corporate donations, sponsorships and volunteerism. Additional information about Weyerhaeuser’s businesses, products and practices is available at www.weyerhaeuser.com.
