Marine Science Classroom Educator of the Year
Carrie Jones, Science Chair at Middle Creek H.S. and Class of 2008 Kenan Fellow, received the 2007 Marine Science K-16 Classroom Educator of the Year Award at the National Aquarium in Baltimore, Maryland, on October 20th. The competition was sponsored through the Mid-Atlantic Marine Education Association and was open to teachers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Maryland, Delaware, Washington D.C., and Virginia. Criteria for the award nominee included: demonstrating a commitment to marine education, excelling as an educator, developing and using innovative marine education materials, sharing information with colleagues, and promoting marine education professionally.
Ms. Jones’ nomination will be sent on to compete nationally.
